This subtle fruit has gained great popularity in recent years and therefore it could not be missing in my garden. Initially, we ate fresh blueberries, but it often happened that I missed their taste during long autumn and winter evenings. That's why I came up with the idea to make jam from them and preserve the taste of summer blue berries in a jar for longer. For this purpose, I selected the most fertile, sweet species with sufficient frost resistance and long fruiting time. Now we don't have to wait a whole year to feel this seductive taste again.

Blueberry jam without added sugar
Blueberry jam was prepared using the traditional method - without added sugar. Therefore, the noticeable sweetness comes only from the fruit itself. The jam was fried slowly and without haste using a wooden stirrer and a large pot with a thick bottom to prevent it from burning. Long-term frying causes the water to evaporate and the sugars to caramelize. Caramelization is the process of darkening food, which contributes to the formation of caramel as a result of the action of high temperature on the natural sugars of the fruit. This process is very important in the preserves I prepare because it helps bring out the true flavour of the blueberries, which I then seal in a jar.

Using blueberry jam
It is a great addition to oatmeal, millet, tea, donuts, pancakes, bread, cookies, cakes, ice cream, waffles, potato pancakes, puddings and other products. In other words, blueberry jam provides a wide range of possibilities in preparing meals. It all depends on your creativity and taste preferences.

What does blueberry jam without added sugar taste like?
After light pasteurization, blueberry jam tastes like fresh, ripe blueberries picked in the middle of summer, has a thick consistency, a natural sweet-sour taste with a predominance of sweet, and a colour similar to freshly picked fruit from the bush. This is a perfect choice for people who love sweet fruit in jars. People who are looking for an idea that will allow them to diversify their daily diet with a product that is a real vitamin bomb. To sum up, it is worth remembering that blueberry jam is a nod to maintaining good health and well-being.
